Community Kitchen: A Taste of Africa!

A Taste of Africa: Peanut Stew & Puff Puff Nutty for Puff Puff!

When you think of peanut butter, savory dishes may not be the first thing that comes to mind. In this flavorful cooking experience, we’ll trade in the classic PB&J for a comforting, savory dish that predates peanut production in the United States—African Peanut Stew, also known as groundnut stew.

To sweeten things up, we’ll pair the stew with Puff Puff, a beloved African street food found across several countries and especially popular at parties and celebrations. Light, fluffy, and slightly sweet, Puff Puff has many regional variations you’ll get to know in this class.
In this hands-on session, you will:
Learn how to make Nigerian-style Puff Puff, plus explore popular regional variations

Prepare a simple, approachable version of African Peanut Stew using time-saving hacks

Discuss how the stew is traditionally made, including more complex, from-scratch methods
